- I dont know who wrote the Chinese edition. It may have been either foreign agency. It does look like a Chinese edition was widely distributed. John Vandenberg (chat) 06:07, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- I was doing some work on the Wikipedia page and it was unclear whether the letter was first issued in English. I suppose it probably was, and then the Chinese version was made second. --Guinnog (talk) 07:06, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- Taipei Times is saying that the U.S. Embassy released a Chinese edition. They say "According to a Chinese-language copy of the letter released by the US Embassy, it doesn't use the term that China had insisted on -- "daoqian" (道歉) -- a formal apology that accepts blame." and "[深表歉意] doesn't appear in the Chinese-language version of the letter released by the embassy."
