黃鼎　字佐廷。年四十三歲。生於上海。已婚。子二女五。初畢業於上海聖約翰大學。光緖十八年。自費遊美。光緖二十二年。畢業於勿吉尼亞大學。光緖二十三年回國。任上海聖約翰大學及某校敎員。光緖二十七年。任山西大學堂繙譯。光緖三十年。任上海美國領事署繙譯。兼任滬寗鐵路總繙譯及秘書。宣統三年。任駐美國遊學監督。曾爲學生報編輯。譯有邁爾通史。雷森氏化學。及克洛特氏進化論等。

Returned to China, January, 1897. Teacher: St. John's University, Shanghai, 1897-98; Tao-Tai College, Shanghai, 1898-1901. Translator: Shansi University, 1901-4; American Consulate, Shanghai, 1904-6. Chief Translator and Secretary, Shanghai-Nanking Railway, 1904-11. Director, Chinese Educatinoal Mission at Washington, D.C., 1911 to date. Was Editor of the Students' Journal. Translated Myers' "Gen-eral History", Remsen's "Chemistry" and Edward Clodd's "Evolution". Present Address: 2023 Kalorama Road, Washington, D.C., U.S.A.
