岱史/卷一
叙日:曷云乎图考也?考泰山之形胜,而绘之为图也。夫鸿濛始判,为物者万,而惟流峙最大;为峙者万,而惟岳最大;为岳者五,均之巍巍峻极,而惟岱最大。近则横亘齐鲁,跨引江淮;远则雄峙九弦,霖雨四海,岂非华夷之巨观,古今之崇镇乎。顾欲以方寸赫号,总擘全胜,抑何难也。然自古考方辨域,必取诸图,不然则周览不能穷其胜,载籍不能纪其详,即有高雅之士兴起外游之想,曷从而观焉。是用逮古证今,图诸简端。图泰山,握坤轴也,而先之以星野,系乾象也,图岳庙,以神所栖也,图碧霞官,以世所崇奉也,图周明堂,以帝王致治之迹也,而附之以五岳真形,则以泰山五岳之宗,宜统会其胜也。维岳降神,实生孔子,万世宗之如泰山乔岳,图其庙而崇祀之,以表圣迹重山灵也。夫天开图画,地涌丹青,岂人力哉?维玆绘事肖厥化工,俾世之观览者一披卷而对越介丘,恍乎明神陆降,勿勿乎欲其享之,则又非特豁目惠心,供胜𥃨游之适云尔。

右图石刻岱祠图说引《道经》云:‘五岳之神,分掌世界,人物各有攸属。岱太山乃天帝之孙,群灵之府,主世界人官职、生死、贵贱等事。’又引《抱朴子》云:‘凡修道之士,栖隐山谷,须得五岳真形图。佩之则鬼魅虫虎一切妖毒皆莫能近。’又云:‘太初中,李充称冯翊人三百岁,常负此图。人或佩之渡江海、入山谷,或夜行宿凶房,邪魔、魑魅魍魉悉皆隐遁。虔供居地,必获祯祥。’又尝见万花谷记西王母与上元夫人降汉武帝,帝视其巾器中有小书,乞瞻览,母曰:‘此五岳真形图也,乃三天太上所出,岂汝所宜佩乎?’帝乞不已,与之,藏柏梁台。
余按诸说虽不可知,然此图类古符篆,必有所自,而五岳之神亦不可诬也。存之将以资博识云。
